Starting off Lily’s birthday festivities I took the kids to go buy presents for Lily’s birthday, they each had a $10 limit, Elijah was having no success finding anything for his baby sister at first (probably because he was checking out his own toys) and Ava went straight for the baby blankets trying to find just the right blanky. Neither of them were able to find what they were looking for so we headed over to Toys-r-us.
My favorite quote from the day was when Ava says, "Mommy this gift only costs $7 so can I find her another little someth'n to go with it?" to which Elijah quickly responds, "So if I find a gift for $5 then can I use the other $5 to buy myself something?!"…the answer was “yes” to Ava and “no” to Elijah.
Ava decided to go with a new ball and fun bath toy that shoots water out of the top, Elijah got her some new flip-flops and dress-up shoes.
Back at home we get started on decorating our own party hats.
Then we wrapped our presents, I was laughing at how good Ava was at it and Elijah was getting very frustrated…he just doesn’t have the delicate touch that the tissue wrap required.
I helped him salvage his wrapping job as best I could, and assured him that “it’s what’s inside that counts”.
Next it was time to fill out our 5 hearts with things we love about Lily, Elijah wrote his first heart very quickly but then decided to take his time and redeem himself after his poor wrapping job…he kept commenting on his “excellent penmanship”.
Ava wanted to write words this year instead of drawing pictures and so she would tell me what to write and then she would copy it onto her hearts. At one point when she was trying to think of something she said, “Ummm, I looooove…her GLORY!” and Elijah responded, “Ava! That’s God’s!”
I told the kids they could each pack a few things to take to the hotel, this is Elijah’s “must-haves” which include: Legos, a Large snake, and 2 stuffed puppies.
Ava knew Lily would enjoy playing with babies and so she packed enough supplies for the both of them and made sure to grab a baby doll for Lily too.
We are finally at our hotel, the BEAUTIFUL Four Seasons Scottsdale at Troon North, our room wasn’t quite ready so we dropped our bags at the front desk and headed to the pool.
The Pool area was so nice- plush towels and chairs, shade wherever you need it, a great service staff, and free goodies while you were swimming!
Lily loved cuddling up on the chair next to me and pouring her own drinks with a water pitcher, then dumping the water from cup to cup to cup, I just loved watching her.
This place is so pretty
I was commenting on how great this giant painting was as the kids and I explored the lobby area and Elijah told me, “That’s because people can be brilliant here.”
Time to head to our room, the service here is unreal and I am gladly taking advantage of it all!
Room service dropped by a gift for all the kids, personalized with their names and inviting them to the kid’s club, Ava couldn’t wait to put on her kid-sized robe she wore it almost the entire time we were here. (Christmas gift idea!)
Even Lily got some special goodies.
Our patio area was so quiet and serene, Elijah couldn’t wait to look in those boulders for some lizards…It was time for the kids to go check out the kid’s club while Lily took a little snooze.
They had all kinds of different rooms with fun activities, but guess where Elijah wanted to hang out??? Shocking, I know!
Everyone was refreshed and so it was time for…PRESENTS!
The shoes from brother were a big hit…
the Pillow Pet from Mommy & Daddy is a new favorite…
And she was ready to play with the new water toy Ava got her right away, so we all got changed to head down to the pool!
Us grown-ups were taking a little long to get changed so Ava and Lily decided to go outside and wait, I caught this sweet moment of Ava swaying back and forth with Lily in her lap- we are so blessed to have Ava in our family.
It was a gorgeous night for a swim and we practically had the pool to ourselves.
Lily was swiping at her new toy and then I even got to escape for a bit to enjoy the Jacuzzi ALONE, it was so nice!
Elijah was bobbing up and down in the water like some kind of sea creature.
Lily, Grandma, and I were chillaxin and taking in the scenery, such a perfect night!
Did NOT want this night to end, we stayed out and swam awhile longer, Ava got VERY upset at grandma and I trying to dunk each other but we explained it was just a game so she forgave us…eventually.
Back in the room it was time for Birthday Doughnuts!
(Lily’s favorite treat right now)
After all that excitement it was time to chill with some fun drinks and watch a little t.v. before we laid Lily down to bed.
The big kids weren’t about to go to bed yet so we let them stay-up awhile longer. Ava couldn’t wait to get in that big bathtub and Elijah was totally stoked to watch fishing shows with Daddy.
After we both had baths/showers with the glorious bath products provided by the hotel Ava and I were more sophisticated than the boys at our desk doing more important things than watching t.v. (Ava was drawing on the hotel stationary and I was checking out the breakfast menu to use our resort credit in the morning!)
I wish I could make this picture of Ava a scratch-n-sniff, she was SOOOO sweet after her bath!
Will these kids ever be tired?!!
All that fun had to end sometime, thankfully room service sent up these little stuffed coyotes as gifts for all the kids…I love this hotel!
Riiiiiise and Shiiiiiine! The kids are up early and ready to search for bugs, We are dropping them off this morning at the kid’s club for a nature walk while we take our little Lady out for a birthday breakfast.
Almost ready, I love this picture because it reminds me of one that my mom has of us when I was little and I also love how you can see Elijah smiling at us in the mirror.
The morning walk to drop the kids off was delightful, I cannot get over the beauty of this place.
Enjoying breakfast with a great view.
Lily was entertained by stacking jams while waiting.
Avery ordered a smoked salmon bagel dish, and I got a very southwestern inspired egg dish…we both loved our meals and even had enough left to get a ‘dessert’ of mexican french toast with caramelized bananas candied pecans and cinnamon cream…no picture because we forgot to take one before we dug-in!
As soon as we were back at our hotel Lily started making faces at us from the patio because there was a little boy doing this to her at the restaurant and clearly she thought it looked like great fun so had to try it herself!
Enjoying some alone-time with our 2-year-old.
Picked-up the kids and requested a late check-out so we could take another swim before we left.
Last stop was the kiddie pool where the kids were pretending to be a zoo exhibit of sea turtles and I had the joy of being the zoo keeper, tossing food out to them, giving them check-ups, and training them to do tricks.
Avery watched.
(I think it was his turn for alone time since I got to do the Jacuzzi
)
Before we knew it it was time to head home, we will have a hard time topping this place next year for Lily’s birthday but I am up for the challenge! Happy Birthday to our fun & energetic little cutie…notice she still does the nose-scrunch a bit?!
